After years of exploitation, manipulation and reports of fraud & corruption by
the LPPOM (Lembaga Pengkajian Pangan, Obat-obatan, dan Kosmetika) group which
seemingly abused the support of the MUI (Majelis Ulama Indonesia), the Indonesian
Government’s decision to directly control and manage Halal Certification under
the BPJPH (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal) is welcomed by the World
Halal Council (WHC).
The WHC is hopeful that the Indonesian Government and its Halal Product Certification
Agency, BPJPH will once again restore the confidence of the Indonesian Muslim public,
the International Halal Certification fraternity and the Global Halal Consumers &
Industry in its commitment to uphold Halal integrity.
The World Halal Council offers its congratulations and extends its fullest support to
the BPJPH and undertakes to provide every assistance through its global network to
facilitate a smooth and successful transition.
